recipe | sausage rolls

i have a strange anxiety of not having bread at home, that bothers me so much. some times, i would just ignore it and bake other cake. but some times, i couldn't help myself to bake it at home - although most of the bread i've tried needs several hours to bake - only to feel safe that i have them in my shelf.

with the usual hours of baking bread, i always prepare myself to sleep late at night if i start to bake after work. that's a lot of time to take and believe me, in the end, the bread will only be consumed the next morning.

but, this recipe offers me less needed time to bake and it's soooo tempting! since, i was short of bread at home, and had no plan for breakfast the next morning; i threw myself in front the oven to try this 40 minutes sausage rolls.

easy steps, easy ingredients, and easy bake. the only thing you should watch out is the yeast, just need to wait until it's foamy, otherwise, it won't rise.

pretty rolls, rite? the smells were really good! and it tastes just the same like the bread in the bakery. really love this recipe <3 font="">

Recipe | Sausage Rolls

1 cup + 2 tbsp warm water
1/3 cup olive oil
2 tbsp active dry yeast (i used instant yeast, though)
1/4 cup sugar
1 1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
3 1/2 cups bread flour
16 sausages (i mixed the sausages)
1 egg + 3 tbsp milk, beaten
cheese slices

1. heat oven to 220 degree C.
2. in a large bowl, mix warm water, yeast, oil, and sugar. let it rest for 15 mins until foamy.
3. add in flour, egg, and salt into the bowl.
4. knead with hook (or with hands) until well incorporated and dough is soft and smooth. the dough will be a bit sticky, so oil your hand a little, knead two times until it becomes easy to shape. it it's too wet, add a little bit more flour. if it's too sticky, add a little bit oil.
5. form dough into 16 equal size of balls. roll each one of the balls into a log.
6. wrap sausage with cheese slice, the roll the log-dough around the cheese-sausage. pinch to seal.
7. continue with the rest of the dough.
8. glaze with egg-wash.
9. bake for 15 mins or until golden brown (note: my oven took a little more time, you may check the bread from time to time after 10 mins of baking)
